I don’t speak Spanish, but I feel so welcome at ¡Vamos! Health. It’s not just for people who speak Spanish—it’s for everyone!  The people here are so friendly.  It’s so nice to have easy-to-access, low-cost, uncomplicated healthcare. And let’s be honest, the free beverages are the best. At ¡Vamos!, I walked right in and they checked my blood sugar for me and told me I can also save money on my phone bill just for being a member!

Melissa

Excellent staff, they are very friendly, very attentive.

Mercedes

The place is very clean, the staff is very attentive and Dr. Ashley Jensen is super special, she treats me as if she already knew me, very attentive and tries to solve my concerns.

Certified Community Health Worker

Jeannette Villalta

She is an active member of the community who has worked as a community health navigator for over 20 years and continues to learn new things in order to share her knowledge and empower those around her. Thanks to her efforts, in 2012, she became a driving force behind the Community Health Workers movement in Utah, which led to the establishment of SB104 Community Health Worker Certification in Utah in 2022.

In 2016, she was honored with the "Trailblazer" award by the Utah Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. In 2013, she participated as a panelist on a television program addressing topics of interest to parents. From 2014 to 2015, she hosted the radio show Voces de la Comunidad, and later in 2016, Somos Utah. Both programs aimed to inform the Hispanic/Latino community about nonprofit organizations, community events, and available health and social support resources.

She strongly believes that everyone deserves respect, rights, and opportunities, regardless of creed, sexual orientation, age, language, or cultural values.

“Our community needs representation, guidance and support to be able to assist its residents and enhance recognition that they are an essential part of this great society, which in many cases is completely different from their places of origin.”

Community Health Navigators

The helping hand you need.
  • Housing resources
  • Transportation resources
  • Food resources
  • And so much more!
  • Immigration/legal support
  • Financial counseling
  • Family counseling
  • Education resources
  • Language resources

Community Health Navigators play a vital role in bridging the gap between underserved patients and healthcare services by fostering trust, communication, and cultural understanding. They help patients navigate the healthcare system, addressing barriers like language, access, and mistrust, while also guiding healthcare providers to deliver care that is culturally competent and respectful. This approach ensures that patients' unique cultural and social contexts are recognized, leading to better health outcomes and more meaningful provider-patient relationships, especially in minority communities.

Community Health Navigators do more than help your though the more challenging aspects of managing health care, they also connect you with the resources you need to thrive.
